Experiences of
Diverse Women in Law
“Experiences of Diverse Women in Law," was launched at the DWL 2024 Cultural Event. This report delves into the multifaceted challenges faced by diverse women in the Australian legal profession.
The report highlights critical issues such as bias in AI systems, accentism, cultural name discrimination, and the unique experiences of women with disabilities. With insights drawn from 355 respondents, the findings underscore the urgent need for systemic change to foster inclusivity and equity within the legal profession.
Key findings reveal that 97.5% of respondents believe diverse women face significant career obstacles, with non-Western accents and cultural names being major barriers. Additionally, 81% of women with disabilities reported a lack of support, further exacerbating their professional challenges.
